The Pageant, a live entertainment nightclub located in St. Louis' eclectic Delmar Loop neighborhood, attracts entertainers and music artists of all genres to St. Louis and offers patrons superior site lines and acoustics. The Pageant has become a landmark in St. Louis and is one of the top music clubs of its size in the United States. Kiku Obata & Company designed The Pageant's identity, signage, marquee, print communications, exterior colors and materials, interiors, sponsorship program and web site.
Brown Shoe Brown Shoe, St. Louis, MO
The new identity for Brown Shoe builds the brand and image around the consumer. The simple and clean design suggests a footwear company "on the move" and represents Brown Shoe's mission to be "The Leader in Footwear." The comprehensive strategic brand identity program designed by Kiku Obata & Company includes a new logo, brand rollout materials, street banners, t-shirts, corporate trade ads, stationery, forms, brochures, publications, web site look, feel and image content, corporate signage, and graphic standards guide.
Papyrus

Papyrus, Oakland, CA
Papyrus' new prototype stores in Palo Alto, California and Seattle, Washington, celebrate the passionate and personalized side of sending a hand-written card or letter with an eclectic mix of warm woods, sophisticated colors, creative graphics, and customized lighting. Drawing on the word "papyrus," the plant the Egyptians used to craft paper, the design was inspired by the art of papermaking. Kiku Obata & Company's responsibilities included the overall concept, identity, store design, signage, lighting, fixture design, and visual merchandising.

Office Kiku Obata & Company's Office at The Pageant, St. Louis, MO
Kiku Obata & Company's new office, located on the second and third floors of The Pageant, the dynamic new entertainment and concert venue, was a collaborative effort from the beginning. There was a consensus that the new office should not be over- designed or pretentious, it needed to reflect the community and creativity of Kiku Obata & Company and promote collaboration, teamwork and great design. The design of the space was inspired by its "backstage" location, incorporating velvet curtains, exposed metal trusses, and of course, a stage.
comerica Comerica Park/Detroit Tigers, Detroit, MI
Comerica Park's comprehensive environmental graphics program reinforces the strength of the building's architecture and communicates the team's identity through the use of exposed metal surrounds and fasteners, etched stainless steel, and the team colors. Kiku Obata & Company's responsibilities included site signs, wayfinding/directionals, advertising, decade monuments, and banners.
concord Mills Concord Mills, Concord, NC
Concord Mills is a welcoming landmark, a gathering place, and a genuine retail experience where design, pattern and color coordinate to orient customers and celebrate regional culture. The 1.4 million square foot development embodies the best of North Carolina and celebrates the crafts, culture and traditions of the region, which enhance the visitors experience and provide a backdrop for an entertaining shopping experience. Kiku Obata & Company's responsibilities included identity, interior and exterior signage, environmental graphics, interior architecture, and design consulting.

The Saint Louis Children's Zoo underwent a major renovation to make it a year-round facility and to offer children and adults many more close-up and hands-on encounters with animals. The new comprehensive signage and wayfinding program designed by Kiku Obata & Company is educational, engaging, and most of all, fun!

Xanadu Madrid Xanadu, Madrid, Spain
Madrid Xanadu is the largest entertainment and retail destination in Europe. It is a bold, new concept developed by The Mills Corporation that combines retail, entertainment and Europe's largest indoor snow sports facility all under one roof. The 1.4 million square foot center is divided into two areas: Retail and Leisure. Kiku Obata & Company designed the Retail Area as a fusion of international art, fashion and Spanish culture. It is a place where art is fashion and fashion is art. The design is dramatic and contemporary to reflect the Spanish's high sense of fashion and their appreciation of art and culture. This concept is communicated throughout the Retail Area in the interior architecture and design, environmental graphics, signage and wayfinding, and exterior signage and materials.
